All right welcome back The Trilateral Podcast episode 85 how are we doing brothers? How's it going Another one How's it going We got a little bit of recapping do on some f1 testing Over in Bahrain and from our last time Chris said we were talking about it. That was what was going on It was at least wrapping up or if they're in the middle of it Yeah, what wrapped up or how did it wrap up? Um So we talked about the first two days at the Bahrain testing the third day Really the most I guess newsworthy thing They were doing some Ferrari brought out a interesting wing rear ring configuration Where instead of it just opening up like we've seen for years now it actually just did a 180 flip So it basically turned into reverse wing Pretty interesting. I don't know if they'll bring it or if it'll get cobbashed due to regulation loop holes but the science behind it makes amazing sense Because you you get that last drag, but then you get a reverse airfoil basically that gives you some downwards pull When the air flows over so Pretty innovative. I don't know if it'll be usable or they'll use it. It'd be kind of neat to see The science behind it made perfect sense So that was quite interesting Outside of that The filing week of the testing Mercedes was kind of leading for the most part time wise A number of people are just saying you know, it's testing a lot of teams are probably sandbagging it So it's hard to tell if What we're seeing on the top is really the top I think a lot of teams are sandbagging I could see some maybe not bringing the full game but What's the new regulations are a lot of figuring out on all sides? So it's hard to say As it progressed down there was a lot of like they did a lot of simulate racing starts a notable thing out of that was for some reason for our ease And I believe it's how they built their turbo and their power train They really dialed in on the starting pace You go back and watch some of those videos the friars were Just had a whole lot more acceleration out of the gate Which was really exciting to see So that's interesting We'll see if that you know pays forward as we get our first race here Next next weekend Already that's good Yeah, Melbourne It'll be It'll be next Coming weekend, but it'll be yeah So the race will actually be on the 8th of March But So that's exciting Yeah, what they there and their starts could be pretty game changer form We'll see if that curtail's into the racing A lot of laps The first day Pretty much every racer is out except max on that second week Russell had the lap charts by 76 laps total He was also the fastest time day two Kimmy had the fastest time and It looks like Only 16 of the 22 drivers actually drove on the second day Max led the laps both 139 and then day three Claire was the fastest And then in the rookie From RB Got in 165 laps Only 16 racers drove that day also A lot of laps in there there was a number of teams over 100 that third day Outside of that You know if you've taken the fact that maybe some teams are sandbagging Some notable designs Audit came with a brand new floor and side pods to the bow Bahrain testing So and it's the floor design is something not any other teams doing right now so Might be something to look at see if it's It's race worthy But they were seeming pretty protective of it when it was in the pits Not a lot of cameras were able to get good views on it I feel like a lot of teams are You know, they're not gonna they're not gonna go out there and like you know show everybody obviously what they got going on right now Just because of like how new and ever obviously being the first year of that these cars in a setup Like like you said, I feel like you know during throughout the whole season last year You know you said there's gonna be some teams that you know probably are gonna have a little bit of a head start because there are already building these Cars while these other teams are they're still midway through a season trying to race, you know what I mean? Yeah, that definitely was a case on a few teams Still few teams struggling You know Williams didn't even partake in the Barcelona testing I think they made up for it. I think they made it up for an laps in Bahrain, but You know, Aston Martin kind of struggling Which sucks because I got a amazing amazing racing engineer designing the car, but Some of these other struggles might not really show the proof and all that You know kind of early indications. I think My opinion that these in surprise could be Cadillac or Audi I Think those two teams could maybe surprise us this year How outside of that I think it's still gonna probably be your McLaren's Ferrari's Red Bulls Mercedes kind of you top four It'll be an RSC see what comes out on top I haven't looked at any initial favor it's I'm sure Max Piaestry and Norris are up there, but I Think Mercedes is getting a little bit of that Their names being mentioned quite a bit Obviously had a very successful rookie last year, so I'm sure they want him to have an amazing sophomore season Yeah, we're gonna do whatever they can do to make that happen I think some of your low runners are gonna be your LP and Williams Hoss Maybe a little better off. We'll see I Think once we start seeing some races reliability is something to watch. You know, we got some new new engines out there Now new teams with new engines That they've been on as manufacturers so That could be something to watch out for The battery system to you know being a lot more dependent on electric could the play a big factor Little more on the tech side the lights. There's been lights added to the front up by the mirrors for safety related Yeah, probably good. I know Those will flash amber if they go under a certain speed they'll flash. So it's a safety thing There's lights on the upper thin part of the rear wing and then the light in the center in the back has changed and it has Different meetings for what it's blinking and the color some of that You can kind of that used to see what the car is doing You know is it charging is it using its power is it just running on? Combust and combustion engine things of that nature Looked like there's a pretty neat video Kenny going through and explaining all that But I'm gonna still be rooting for Hamilton He seems a little more excited about this season. You know, this car he feels has a part of him in it now since he's helped develop it So I'm excited to see what he can bring to the table I'm excited for Cadillac. I like both those drivers. I'm glad to see him back on the track. So I'll definitely be rooting for them to also Yeah, if landows stays out of his own way Piatry is still gonna be strong Max is still gonna be strong. So Only one rookie on the on the course this year. So It should be a pretty interesting season And one I want to One of the races I enjoy most when it starts off the first one is that Australian GP. I think it's a great Race I'm glad they moved that to the first Oh, it should be a fun one I've heard any changes I haven't heard any changes to the track so Should be pretty much the same course we saw last year Yeah First race week next week love it Couldn't be here soon enough long season Yeah I think that's all I got for me alone right now though. All right cool You brought the fact that the Buffalo Bill Stadium was a vandalized Yeah, last week got vandalized so they halted work to investigate Remember the rumor career Yeah, I think that's what they're speculating two other construction workers are under investigation now They had put out a reward for information And then I laid as I saw the two of the construction workers are under investigation for it so Praise me outside of that everything everything still seems on track, but yeah First time on fire now people are vandalizing it Yeah Did you know the bill is already good enough, bro? Bring the hey it was price and Patriots fan that they didn't vet very well and they allowed to work on it so Sorry, there maybe it was a Broncos fan. I don't know We lost to the Broncos food Yeah, we heard their quarterback though, hmm well Look all our coaches - I don't think that really would have mattered so No it fell the way it fell. Yeah, it fell period All right Thinking about are talking about the Olympics we got a Couple gole-mails coming our way for the women's and the goal are the men's hockey teams Stellar games stellar games got to watch both Over time for both of them both them against our rival candidate Those are some awesome games I really enjoyed watch them I Enjoyed getting up in the morning and watching the men's games Sunday morning. That was a lot of fun The women's game Kind of was shocker. I was expecting them to blow them out and for them to Candidate keep it close and have an actual game was like pretty wild But that goal at the end where she put the moves on them that was That was pretty sick But They think with the men's you know Men's school, so it was all pretty good. They had what twice in many shots and goals we did Yeah, yeah We played a lot of defense unfortunately in that game Women's was at the last time was 2018 the men's was Since the 1980 yes, it's miracle nice, no Pretty cool stuff I Like that we were able to do that so I don't know what the metal counts are right now I'm pretty sure Norway's is Norway's beating everyone really I Think that suit was still leading it. Yeah, no Norways got 41 Total USA 33 in other ones 20 Doesn't make any sense why isn't Italy number four though? Italy has more overall but now that ones has More higher More silver and gold Got you well another one's got a lot of years man, right like a lot of countries you know cross-credits But they also have the speed skating Oh, they did have that guy for speed skating here inside speed skating whenever they do well We had that guy we had our young guy won two golds in skating Big figure skating We did have a guy when build a fair skate - Little girl the girl one the girl one - that retired at 16 and came back That was awesome, yeah, everything's oh What is in it over at this point? Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's over. Yeah, I don't know Actually, I think it is yeah, pretty sure it's over Yeah, I like yeah, yeah, it concluded on the 20 stinkin Good stuff. We've seen his successful year for the Olympics for us But I watch I mean I think they had a I liked how the Milan had it all set up to and everything that was really cool I like how it was like you know, yeah There's a lot of concern around the ice rink, but it seemed like it panned out fine What were they concerning about what were they concerned about? Yeah, some of the Construction was delayed and then Something about the size of the ice, but I didn't really hear much of it during the Olympics, so it must have worked out far and for them They could have been just Dolution news to you. It was absolutely where they talked about the hockey or they talked about life the ice game I want to say it was the hockey rink got you, but That was pretty good You did good. Yes, it was We'll see it again in four years No, it's crazy that they do that every four years, man. It's wow such a cool thing I guess that's what makes it so great though, you know Yeah, the next 2030 and it will be in the French Alps Oh really That's pretty sick It's obviously been in America, but I'm trying to think where has it been in America? It was like so Yeah, just there what about like Park City, you know, there's like 2016 I don't know that's cool. Tell Well, isn't the Summer Olympics in LA next Yeah, it was in a Beijing prior air and then it was in South Korea prior to that That It will return the Salt Lake in 2034 Wow, it hasn't been Salt Lake since 2002 Yeah 2002 Because we had so she had in there too, which was kind of a shit show Yeah, Summer Olympics in 2028 Yes in LA right Yeah, it's what it looks like that's pretty cool that's in LA Yeah, LA All the different spots are gonna have it out and shit. It's pretty cool Hopefully they do like the track and everything like that. They're gonna probably do that what in the Colosseum So far Tracking field being the Colosseum basketball will be in The in you wet dome that'll be the Clipper Stadium And then it goes to Australia after Los Angeles wow Yeah, so I'll be played in the Rose Bowl. Oh, that's even cooler. Pazadena. I love it That'll be sick Football so fire will be so fire will be for the opening ceremony and they'll be using a temporary pool for the swimming there Where's football can you play that Softball will be in Oklahoma What Looks like soccer is gonna get spread about - what do you mean Oklahoma?
